Timeless: Antique Cafe, inspired by a good friend, is a coffee shop concept where all the furniture is for sale.

I ran more with the customer experience than the look of a brand with this concept.

As I reflected on this idea I thought about what customers would be doing there - grabbing a drink, chatting with friends, studying, etc. Wanting it to be a place where people could camp out for a while, the name Sip & Stay came to mind.

However, that didn't seem to have differentiated depth to the experience from any other shop. I thought about the concept of  "it's all for sale" and what it would be like for customers to not only buy coffee but also the chair they were sitting in that day.

We are often attached to antique items because they have a story still being told. It is our desire to be part of something, living each day in the story as it’s shared again and again.

I quickly wrote down the word Timeless and expanded the idea for the store, writing:

  • Antiques are timeless

  • Has to be comfortable enough that time does not exist to the customer; they stay a while

These notes reinforced to me how a desired customer experience positions a brand.

Timeless communicates not only the products sold but what it feels like to spend a day there.

I jotted out a quick note to keep me focused on the key objective: coffee shop where all the furniture is for sale… like if an antique store had a coffee cafe in it.

Seeking to understand the target customer and put myself in that room, I spent a few moments envisioning that idea – an antique store that sold coffee. What’s so special about that?

Then it hit me...TIMELESS
